Kaynemaile at the World of WearableArt Show (WOW)

The World of WearableArt (WOW), is the world’s leading wearable art competition and showcases extraordinary creations from designers of all backgrounds. The entrants create wearable works of art with the finalists featured in a spectacular stage show held in Wellington, New Zealand.

The WOW stage show is a massive theatrical event and the 2022 show featured creative direction by renowned Las Vegas designer Brian Burke. Also on board for the 2022 event were Belgium’s video content creators Drop the Spoon who were tasked with creating a visual programme to bring life to a challenging multi-use venue.

The three-dimensional nature of Kaynemaile mesh extends the options for lighting and projection design, allowing for a wider range of angles and effects than traditional projection screens and theatrical drapes. Combined with the strength and light weight of polycarbonate it’s a perfect choice for stunning performance and stage design.

With venue constraints a key issue, the WOW production team incorporated Kaynemaile’s projection screens as operable moving systems, creating separate performance zones on a tight stage layout. The robustness of Kaynemaile mesh allowed performers to interact with the screens and become emersed within the large scale video projections and lighting effects.

This is a standout project for the Kaynemaile team and is a perfect example of how we crossover between art, architecture and design.
